I found Villa Tosca in my Frommer's Italy Guide Book way back in 1988 .. It was in the budget section of the more affordable establsihments on the slightly expensive Isle of Capri. Following the instructions in the book, I got off the slow ferry boast from Napoli to Capri at Marina Grande and made my way to the Funicular that took my up to Capritown. I asked for directions and walked down towards the Quississana Hotel as Villa Tosca was located behind it.

As you are walking from the Piazza Umberto to the Quississana, the hotel appears and you will see a narrow alleyway on the right side of the hotel as you look directly at it. You walk down the aleyway and you will come to the Caeser Augustus walkway. If you look straight ahead you will see the Carthusian Monastery. Make a right and another quick right, and you will find Albergo La Tosca back here.

When I first stayed there in 1988, the place was called Villa Tosca and was a modest pensione/ hotel. The son spruced the place up, made it into a cool little boutiquish hotel that is ow called La Tosca. The rates are still pretty reasonable starting at 120 Euro a night.

It's a cute little place, with the main draw being its great location with one of the best views you'll find on the island.

When I was going on my trip in 2015, I wanted to stay at Tosca again, but when I was searching for it on Booking.com and other hotel sights, the place wasn't coming up. I eneded up staying at Hotel Carmencita up in Anacapri. When I was walking around one day, I went to Tosca and discovered the slight name change. The same family still owns it, and I remember the son who was now some 27 years older.

I had a wonderful time staying at Villa Tosca in 1988, walking down to The Farglioni to go swimming. Then I took a boat from Faraglioni to Marina Picolo, beffore taking the little bus up to Capri Town.
